Going off to London again on Friday. Among other things, planning to do a series of media interviews to promote AirAsia X's maiden Kuala Lumpur-London flight on March 11. It's a historical occasion, the first time a low-cost carrier is linking Asia, Europe and Australia. We're very excited about it.

For all who’ve been wondering, we will also be meeting Manchester United officials again while we are in Britain next week. The media coverage on us has been fantastic this past week on Man United's invitation to AirAsia to be their main shirt sponsor. More than 70 print, broadcast and online media worldwide worldwide reported the story, with most of them even quoting directly from my blog post. Will keep you posted.

Now, on to another subject. From the time the blog was launched, there’s been lots of questions on how to be a pilot, will you take me as a pilot, etc. Everyone, it seems, wants to be a pilot with AirAsia.

Well, here's the deal. The AirAsia blog will soon launch a competition and from the entries, we'll pick 10 qualified winners and give them an opportunity to become an AirAsia pilot.

Not going to say much here but if you want a chance to fly an AirAsia Airbus, check the blog this week for details.

Datuk, try googling "air asia". The first result is a sponsored link for Malaysia Airlines!! Just thought you'd like to know so that you could do something about it.

Hey, Tony!!! Firstly, that's sounds really attractive for me!! Since there's no restrictions or limitation what so ever!! But before hand, may i ask you. Are their national, age and education qualification barrier in this programme? Good Luck to you for being the first LCC to fly the "Kangaroo" (Similar enough!!!) Hope Air Asia will gain a great success out of this occasions and put Air Asia into the map of Europe Aviation Industry. As well as the local community with Europe. Regarding to the Man U sponsership, can you tell us more about the progress so far. Like how's going so far? What are you bargining for? etc..... Anyway, I am really interest on that pilot programme, it was really innovative, exciting way to attract all the "aviation lovers" to be part of the Air Asia family!!

Good luck and have fun in the UK. How good does one's eyesight have to be to qualify to be a pilot?

Hi Tony,

We Malaysians are proud of AirAsia's achievement . Something no other airlines in the world can do in such a short duration of time. Just wish I could be part of the history making maiden flight to London on 11th March 2009. Nevertheless AirAsia has made London and Europe a considerable holiday getaway for us Malaysians. Been always dreaming of a white X-mas. That dream of mine will come true soon. Thank You to U and AirAsia.

I am also very interested to know that many Malaysian aspire to be Pilots. I hope this golden opportunity will be given to the most deserving individuals/staffs who are not only dreaming to be in the "high flying" job but to those who are ultimately commited , devoted and never give up to be a pilot no matter where they are and what they do.
Have a Good Trip and God Bless U ....

Hi Tony, Very recently i have gone thru your blog and i can read your challenges obstacles which you are facing with a smiling face(picture of yours) I really like the way you does things to success this Low cost carrier. The same way,i like you to challenge yourself to make me as a Pilot . Why i say this because, this year i am 47years old. Age is no barrier from your perspective. Being having this ambition from young ,living in rubber estate near Subang Airport, daydream of piloting aircraft while take a short rest after collecting Latex and get scolding from my mum for dreaming too long. Not stress further , make me for your usefull tools and help me achieve my dream rgds robert
